|||||I Write Sins Not Tragedies - Panic! at the Disco||]|
Wuwu, time for another update.
I'm preparing to go pull up and turn flowerbeds for the rents, so I have to make this resemble "brief."
Semester finished out well, but I'm burnt out. I can't reinvigorate myself so far for the final stretch. I'm blase, and it sucks. I also know I chose the wrong major for me, for while I adore philosophy, contemporary philosophers can blow me. I should have done history. Oh well.
I quit World of Warcraft about a week into February. The game is routine, as is every other MMO on the market. Not worth my time, not worth anyone's time. My wonderful computer was spotted by MS for being pirated, and they blew up my OS. Well, that's the best explanation for getting a warning about my serials not being current, then missing a boot record on the next reboot. Waiting to get my hands on XP64. End of the summer my computer will breathe again.
The top hinge on the driver side door to my jeep broke off the car. So one hinge holds it to my car. The door has been locked and unopened since it happened; I have to climb in through the passenger side. On the plus side, its easy agility work. On the negative side, its embarassing as hell. Another plus though; I can't easily get into my car after drinking. Makes others DD because they are embarrased about me climbing over seats. I win.
On the more fortunate side of things, I've been studying Hung Gar Kung Fu, at a local school. I am so inflexible it isn't funny. I'm getting better though. Yay for stretching twice daily.
And of course I've been reading. In the last 6 months I've read:
-Prince of the Blood, Raymond E Feist; B+
-Serpentwar Saga (Shadow of an Emerald Queen, Rise of a Merchant Prince, Rage of a Demon King, Shards of a broken crown), Feist; A
-Riftwar Legacy (Krondor: The Betrayal, Krondor: The Assassins, Krondor: Tear of the Gods), Feist; C+
-The Black Jewels Trilogy (Daughter of the Blood, Heir to the Shadows, Queen of the Darkness), Anne Bishop; B
-The Count of Monte Cristo, Alexandre Dumas; A
I'll be reading the Belgariad series by Eddings next, then I'm shelving fantasy for a while. It is time to revive my reading of the classics (the reread of Monte Cristo spurred this on).
Oh, and if you have HBO, watch Entourage Sundays at 10. Its brilliant.
|I'm shocked. Really, I am.

||[Jan. 30th, 2006|03:05 pm]
So I got a notice about 2 weeks ago in my email to update this thing. You know who you are.
Life has been very rinse and repeat the last two months, the majority of my time being spent either in class, at work, or reading for class/leisure. I'm glad I took Barbarian Europe, but if i had the chance, I am sure I would never do winter session again. WAY too hectic and rushed, especially working in a ski shop. I'm also getting dumber with age, as I really should have seen this coming when I signed up for the class. Oh well. C'est la vie.
Things of note the last month and a half:
My car was stolen, and recovered. Damn kids.
I've read Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman, and the full Riftwar Saga (Magician:Apprentice, Magician:Master, Silverthorn, Darkness at Sethanon) by Raymond Feist. All the books are incredible. Well, Anansi Boys was so-so. If I've given you recommendations for reading in the past, Feist's works rank slightly below Martin's in terms of quality. The list now resembles:
Great Book of Amber - Zelazny
Song of Ice and Fire - Martin
Riftwar Saga - Feist
I built a new computer. Its awesome.
I've casually played World of Warcraft. Easy game, but enjoyable. Hard to get good at, which I appreciate in MMOs.
Occasional night of drinking and debauchery... well, ok only drinking. Only night of those I remember was Hennessey's birthday, and that is only because I sobered up before I left.
Life has been busy, and time has been flying. As much as I hate routine, I can appreciate the monotony in allowing time to pass quickly.
Um, here's to you 2006?
PS. Guitar Hero rocks.

|||||Le Click - Call Me||]|
Yeah, I remember why I used to update this thing so much. I used to do all my work at home at one point, and instead of having others to distract me, I just had AIM and LJ.
So I've been having a lot of supreme highs and incredible lows recently. My emotional stability has been nonexistent, as has been my ability to concentrate. I've done some incredible things for people, and some terrible things to myself. But hey, that's life sometimes, right?
For example, I'm listening to Le Click right now. That's just an unhealthy sign in and of itself.
Inane updates are the best. Expect more.

|||||Mr. Brightside - The Killers||]|
It amazes me how taboo sex is in the classroom. Why can't college students grasp the sexual nature of Sappho, instead of trying to read everything else into it?
Life has been great the last week. Had about four rough days after my last post, but after wednesday, things were top shape. Its amazing how fun life can be when you aren't worried or upset all the time.
School, outside of my english class, is fantastic. My classes are all going well, I recieved full financial aid, and I'm learning something in just about every class. I just wish English could meet the grade, but at least I'm learning how I shouldn't teach later.
Saw From Hell at the diner the other night. Sweet movie.
The only downside to life are people's ideas of fucking with me, socially. This doesn't go well for anyone. And I seem to be seen as innocent, or at least inoculous. I really don't want to go back to my old manipulative self, but the fight is great. The desire to destroy lives is coming back, and I am working to shield against it. If you do this sort of thing, pray for me. I don't want a resurgence of what I was.

Stolen verbatim from a friend.|
"Tell me what you want me to do, and I will do it. You can tell me to post something, ask me a question and tell me to answer it honestly, tell me to watch a movie, read a book, say something to the next person I meet. I'd prefer if you didn't make me do something that would get me arrested, or tell me to drop out of grad school. Or bankrupt me. But I trust you not to do things like that.
Tell me what you want of me"
I think this is an interesting idea. And I love some of the responces and challeneges. So I in turn am asking you to do this for me.
I'm all for new things. Let me know if there is something I've been sorely missing out on.

Wow. Last night was awesome.|
Been busy the last couple weeks, and time in front of a computer is usually limited to about 5 minutes on average. I've been completely obsessed with ROME the last few weeks, and now get together with Matt every Sunday night to watch it. The HBO writers are geniuses.
I visited an OWbN Larp on Friday, and am playing a Cam Gangrel. Things went really well, and despite the point spread, I already know I'll be in the top 7 in the city before long.
Got picked up by two complete strangers, one standing in line at a Wawa, and the other walking her dog while I was mowing the lawn. People are strange. I think I'm in heat or something. Fortunately, they were both cute, though one was FAR too old. That aside, Kristin and I are doing well =)
Obsessed with the newish Fallout Boy CD. Partying hard on the weekends, and been riding the tide of work fairly effieciently. Two exams Wednesday though.
Oh, and yesterday morning the powers-that-be at work had us all come in at 9:30am to go through a sales rep training course thing. The instructor told us we'd learn how to manipulate people. I laughed. Nothing learned =(
